Featured Wedding: Aimee + Matt

September 22nd 2012:

This particular wedding was one I'd really been looking forward to ever since I got the first details at my initial consultation with Aimee. It promised to have all of the ingredients for a spectacular wedding and trust me, it did not disappoint.

The ceremony and reception were held at the historic Ford Piquette Plant in downtown Detroit. The former home of the Ford Motor Company, it is now a museum dedicated to informing patrons of the many historic cars that were produced there. The 'T-Plex' as it is affectionately known, is a hidden gem in the city of Detroit and was a perfect fit for this couple's unique I-do's.

Ceremony:
The ceremony was held on the second floor of the plant. White Christmas lights were re-purposed and draped above the guests' seats leading all the way up to ceremony altar. The vows took place in front of an incredible handmade floor to ceiling glass bubble wall. The bride walked down the aisle to Jem's rendition of "Maybe I'm Amazed". The couples longtime friend, Josh Monat performed the ceremony which featured custom vows. The couple also chose to incorporate the signing of their marriage license into their ceremony.

Cocktail Hour:
While pictures were taken, the guests were ushered upstairs to the third floor to enjoy cocktail hour. The bar featured Michigan-made beer and wine along with Faygo pop and a signature drink dubbed "The Greyhound', a tribute to the couple's beloved dog, Eero. The band, The Science Fair, did a great job warming up the crowd and getting them ready to dance the night away. Guests were invited to stroll and admire the historic cars on display, relax at the custom lounge, or sign the unique guest book- Eames House of Cards.

Reception:
A mixture of long captain's tables and traditional round tables made up the reception area. The tables were named after famous buildings in the Metro Detroit area. Black linens and handmade chevron table runners made the perfect canvas for Pot & Box's adorable fall inspired floral arrangements. The couple's sweetheart table featured a floor length chevron table linen and was adorned by a handmade glass bubble chandelier. Zingerman's Catering provided the delicious buffet while Domestic Arts created the absolutely adorable chevron cake. Family members & friends also provided handmade desserts (including french macaroons & mini apple pies) for guests to munch on. As a late night snack, the couple provided cider and doughnuts from Parmenter's Orchard.

This wedding was made incredible by the unique and personal details that the bride and groom included. Their wedding did an outstanding job of representing who they are as a couple. Congrats Aimee & Matt!

Stephanie Loves Derrick

On August 11th 2012 my team and I helped coordinate and design Stephanie and Derrick's wedding in Flint, MI. The traditional ceremony was held in the beautiful and historic Bethel United Methodist Church where we used adorable white tissue poms to decorate the pews to go with our "Whimsical Chic" wedding theme. Yellow spray rose pomanders added the perfect amount of color to the altar space.

Stephanie looked beautiful and in her instantly classic White by Vera Wang gown. The bridesmaids wore adorable and very stylish short gray gowns that they could indeed wear again and again.

The bridal bouquet consisted of exquisite pink peony roses with yellow spray rose accents. The bridesmaids carried yellow rose bouquets with pit collars. The groom and groomsmen had simple and classic yellow rose boutonnieres with decorative wire accents.

The reception was held at The Durant in downtown flint, steps away from the iconic Flint Arches. The Durant has been painstakingly remodeled and only recently opened up its doors for outside events. The beautiful lobby area was used for cocktail hour hour while guests munched on hors d'oeuvres such as hummus and pita bread, veggies with various dipping sauces, and shrimp skewers. With the lobby being grand and stunning all on its own, not much decor was needed in the space so we stuck with several bud vases of hot pink and yellow flowers scattered among the service and guests tables.

The party then moved into the ballroom. In keeping with our Whimsical Chic theme, white table linens were graced with gray overlays. We then added 3 carnation pomanders of varying sizes to each guest table. Yellow napkins were folded to look like bow ties which added the perfect touch of whimsy.

Extra touches included rose petals and candles adorning the bathroom counter tops, tissue poms scattered among the popcorn favor bar, decorative ceremony and reception signage, and handmade ceremony programs and a handcrafted escort board.

Happy Anniversary Kirsten & Joey!

July 2nd 2012 marked the 1st anniversary for Joey and Kirsten. More affectionately known as our 'U of M bride & groom". Their reception was held at the quaint Cobblestone Farms in Ann Arbor. Pictures were taken before the reception at 'The Big House' and the Law Quad at U of M. We truly loved working with this fun loving couple and wish them many more happy years together!

Featured Wedding: Brittany Loves Mark

The story of high school sweethearts is usually a short, bittersweet one. But not for this adorable couple! These stayed together for 9 (9!) years and nothing-not college, long distances-nothing could tear these two apart. Congratulations you two, we were honored to be a part of your special day!

Featured Wedding: Happy Anniversary Joanie & Brian!

On this date last year, Joanie and Brian tied the knot at Laurel Manor in Livonia. Their wedding had a fairytale/Cinderella theme that Joanie carried out by using a beautiful Cinderella carriage cake stand, the blue bridesmaid dresses and chair sashes, and the castle shaped ice sculpture. We here at The Party Stylist added to the theme by creating unique signs for the bar, guest book, and candy buffet tables with words such as "Today is a fairytale". We also created individual scrolls for the guests to take home.

Congratulations Joanie & Brian. Here's to many more happy years together!
